Requirements Changes

BSA rank advancement requirements have been undergoing modifications, which were effective on January 1, 2008. The details can be found at a US Scouting Service Project Web page:

Here is a (very) brief summary of rank requirements changes:

Tenderfoot
Minor changes to existing requirements

Second Class
Minor changes to existing requirements, with one small addition ("Explain the three R's of personal safety and protection")

First Class
Minor changes to existing requirements, with one small addition ("Describe the three things you should avoid doing related to use of the Internet. Describe a cyberbully and how you should respond to one")

Eagle
Added a requirment to hold a position of responsibility in the Troop for six months, and added following to the requirement for demonstration of scout spirit: "List the names of individuals who know you personally and would be willing to provide a recommendation on your behalf, including parents/guardians, religious, educational, and employer references"
